I love the ACU coat. Obviously, this material is amazing. It is very tough and durable while not being uncomfortable. But the ACU is much better in design than the BDU for many reasons.

There is more room to move in an ACU. The design has spots in the back that "give" when you reach or bend over so you don't get that "fat man in a little coat" feeling like in the BDU. Everything else is as adjustable or more so than in the BDU. Almost everything is hook and loop, which isn't perfect. It is secure and usually quick, but hook and loop is noisy. Not the best in combat or hunting or whatever you need these for. But the hook and loop cuffs mean you get a wide range of adjustment for your sleeves, the hook and loop chest pocket closures ensure that whatever you put in those pockets stays, and the hook and loop that secures the flap over the zipper gives the ACU a very clean cut appearance. So does the mandarin collar which is mostly used to keep armor from chaffing your neck. My plate carrier hasn't arrived yet so I can't comment on how well that works, but I think it looks sharp if you're allowed to wear it that way.

I'm not sure that anyone puts pens in the pen pockets which are on the forearm sleeves, but I actually like that placement. It seems like it would be handy and I look forward to trying it out if I ever need to. I do a little long range shooting and if I need to take notes, it will be easier to get pens out of my left arm sleeve than a chest pocket when in the prone position.

The ACU, like the BDU, is warmer than it appears. It should provide decent insulation in mild temperatures but will be too hot in the summer for sure. I orderd mine a bit large so I could put it on over other layers in the winter. I think it will be fine when the temperature drops.

Finally, MultiCam is the way to go in my opinion. I don't want to drone on and on about it, because everyone has their preference. But there isn't much black in the natural world, so I don't like camouflage with black in it. MultiCam uses just a little dark brown but not too much. It is also easier to conceal lighter camouflage in darker environments than darker camouflage in lighter environments. Still, I don't like camouflage that is too light, such as UCP (ACUPAT, Army Digital). So far, in my experience, this MultiCam pattern is about as good as I've seen for blending in well in multiple environments. Keep in mind that no camouflage can blend in perfectly everywhere. Camouflage isn't a magical cloaking device, it still needs to be used with caution if your goal is to not be seen.

But I can't think of a better camouflage pattern that you can get on clothing this durable with this much utility for less money than this.

EDIT: I spent a good deal of Labor Day afternoon in this ACU jacket. It was not as "hot" as I thought it might be, the temperature was floating around 90 degrees and while I wasn't completely comfortable, I wasn't uncomfortable either. I spent some time shooting from prone and the jacket is very durable as previously stated and helped protect me from sticks, burs, and some ants that had been giving me problems earlier in the day. I did wind up with a blister on my left elbow that is rather strange. I thought it was from rubbing against the inside of the jacket sleeve; however, there are some smaller blisters off to one side as well. These are abnormal looking blisters but are not poison ivy or anything like that. I'm not sure if they are related to the jacket or not, just thought I'd give that information.
